Boeing Honored with Challenger-7 Recognition for Lasting Commitment to STEM Education

On July 20, the anniversary of the Apollo 11 Moon landing, Challenger Center proudly presented Boeing with its prestigious Challenger-7 Recognition, honoring the company’s enduring commitment to STEM education and its partnership in preparing the next generation of explorers, innovators, and problem-solvers.

The award was presented during the Scobee Teachers Academy at the Scobee Education Center at San Antonio College, where forty local K–8 educators gathered for an immersive four-day professional development experience sponsored by Boeing. Through hands-on workshops in space exploration, makerspace design, 3D printing, and LEGO engineering, participating teachers gained practical tools to bring back to the classroom and inspire curiosity and confidence in their students.

The Challenger-7 Recognition is awarded to organizations whose work reflects the spirit, vision, and values of the seven crew members of the Space Shuttle Challenger mission STS-51-L. Boeing was nominated by the Challenger Learning Center at the Scobee Education Center in recognition of its longstanding dedication to expanding STEM learning opportunities for students and empowering educators through meaningful, sustained investment.
