Challenger Center Appoints New Board Chairman
Warren M. Boley, Jr., owner and board member of Boley Tool & Machine Works, is the new Chairman of Challenger Center. Boley fills the role as Robert Curbeam, former NASA Astronaut and current Senior Vice President, Space Capture at Maxar Technologies, transitions to Immediate Past Chair after completing his three-year term.
Boley has been a member of Challenger Center’s Board of Directors since 2014, most recently serving as chair of the Board Governance and Development Committee. Boley was the former CEO & board member of Norsk Titanium, as well as the former president of Aerojet Rocketdyne.
“When students engage in STEM learning experiences like Challenger Center’s Missions and Classroom Adventures, they’re exploring opportunities that could lead them towards careers that will change the world for the better,” said Warren Boley. “I’m honored to take on the role of Chairman at Challenger Center and aim to provide those experiences to millions of students. Together, we’ll carry on the mission of the Challenger crew and ignite the potential within generations to come.”
In addition to Boley’s appointment to Chairman, Mike Reeser, Chancellor & CEO of the Texas State Technical College, and Ron Bush, president and CEO, Challenger Learning Center of Colorado, join Challenger Center’s Board of Directors this month.
“I’m very excited to welcome Mike and Ron to the board of directors,” said Lance Bush, president and CEO, Challenger Center. “Both Mike, an experienced leader in secondary education, and Ron, a proud partner of ours and educator at the Challenger Learning Center of Colorado, regularly interact with students and educators. Their skillsets will ensure we’re developing and improving programs that fit the needs of today’s learners and teachers, while preparing them to solve the problems of tomorrow.”
Additional board committee changes have occurred. Robyn Kravit, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Tethys Research, is now chair of the Audit & Finance committee and Josh Izenberg, Co-Founder and COO, Off-World, Inc., is now chair of the Board Development and Governance committee.
