Challenger Center Honors Our Volunteers
Every April, communities and organizations celebrate National Volunteer Month. The commemoration was established in 1974 to celebrate people in action and encourage volunteerism. We are lucky to receive guidance and support from our Board of Directors, who participate on our Board as volunteers. They’ve donated time, expertise, and energy to Challenger Center and are critical in the growth and development of our organization.
“My favorite part of being Chairman of the Board is knowing that I am a part of an organization which is greatly benefiting society,” said Robert Curbeam, Challenger Center Board Chairman. “The future will be shaped by today’s students, and if we can help educate and inspire them, they will make better decisions, which will lead to a better world. You can see a little bit of that better world with every smiling face that leaves a Challenger Learning Center.”
Our Board includes family members of the Challenger crew, former astronauts, STEM professionals, and industry leaders who all bring a unique perspective and approach to Challenger Center’s aspirations. Thanks to them, we’ve been able to reach more than 5.5 million students around the world over the last 35 years.
We are proud to recognize our Board of Directors during this year’s Volunteer Month and we thank them for their time and passion. To all the volunteers giving their time and energy to an important cause that helps make this world a better place – we applaud you!
